The King Tide Café

Nestled at the eastern tip of Sydney's Hawkesbury River is The King Tide Café.

This Samoan-Australian family run café offer a classic menu with Aussie favorites like Eggs Bene, Avo on Toast, Apple Pie Pancakes...yeah, all that good stuff.

However, due to the essence of location, you may want to try something from my spread.

(SEE PHOTOGRAPH BELOW - MENU LISTED CLOCKWISE)

Our Meal

Local Sydney Rock Oysters

South Australian Mussels

Green + Pomegranate Salad

House Smoked Salmon Board

Loaded Fries

Salt + Pepper Squid w Chilli Lime Aioli

The House Smoked Salmon Board was my absolute favorite!

Other great options were the Salt + Pepper Squid w Chilli Lime Aioli

and Local Sydney Rock Oysters! Delicious!

If not for the amazing food, friendly service, and absolutely stunning location, I think my favorite KING TIDE experience would have to be the family who run it.

You know that feeling when you meet a stranger and instantly hit it off like best mates? Well, that's exactly how it felt meeting the Griffiths-Alaalatoa's.

The King Tide Café cultivate a real love for life, for family, and for food.

Being island born and bred, I feel most loved when I'm fed. Haha!

I was 2,700 miles away from Samoa, but dining at The King Tide Café felt like home.

There is a certain charm about this place.

Maybe it's the boardwalk or seeing the local post office directly opposite the cafe.

Or maybe even the sound of seagulls and the passing trains.

Even if the café is buzzing with happy customers, there's something about the nearness of water that invites this unspoken desire for rest and reflection. I find this offers quite a unique dining experience.

During my 10 days in Sydney I wanted to make the most of every kind of adventure.

Choosing to spend a day at The King Tide Café was definitely one of my fondest memories.

If I could do it again, I would head out earlier in the day and have a wander along the boardwalk lined with shops and a few other touristy sites.

Whether you're a Sydney local or just passing through, I'd recommend paying a visit. Request to be served by either Yvette or Lika. They are the sweetest girls and will help you pick out the yummiest things on the menu. Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Alexia Rae.
